The New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault: Help The Alliance Find A New Name For Its Website

ARCHIVED EVENT - Originally listed: February 14, 2009

Program: New Website Name Contest

Enter our contest and help us find a new name for our website! If we pick your entry, we'll send you a limited edition SAY SO! t-shirt.

To submit your ideas, please email possible web addresses to: Contest@nycagainstrape.org.

What is a Web Address?

A Web Address, or "URL," is the address for finding a site on the Internet. Our web address is currently "www.nycagainstrape.org."

What is the Web Address Contest?

We have decided to change our web address -- and we want YOU to help us decide what the new address will be!

Why does the Alliance need a new URL?

The URL change comes as a response to the need identified in a number of projects: (Project ENVISION, the Adult Health Map) to discuss sexual violence in a way that makes it easier for more people to talk about it. The Alliance is against sexual violence, but what does the world without sexual violence look like and how do we explain it? That’s where we need YOUR help.

What things should be considered when thinking of possible URLs?

Both the vision and mission of the Alliance should be taken into consideration, as well as the many projects and programs of the Alliance.

Vision

The New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault’s vision is a city free from sexual violence.

Mission

The mission of the New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault is to build the capacity of communities, organizations, and institutions to advance the right to live free from sexual violence and reduce the harm it causes individuals, families, and society.

What will happen to the old URL and website?

All of the materials will remain accessible on the website, even with a new URL.

What if I've bookmarked or linked to pages on the old address?

Your bookmarks and links will continue to work. The same site will be available both at the old and the new addresses.

What about email addresses?

The old email addresses will continue to work; however, we will move our email accounts to the new addresses. For instance, if you used to email "sayso@nycagainstrape.org," you will instead email "sayso@NEWADDRESS.org." (Where NEWADDRESS is the new address web address chosen for the Alliance.)

Will anything else change?

Nothing! All of the Alliance's same great resources and information will still be available online.

To submit your ideas, please email possible web addresses to: Contest@nycagainstrape.org.
Winners will receive a SAY SO! t-shirt.

To submit an announcement for listing on The Alliance site, fill out this form. All announcements, events, jobs, and volunteer opportunities will be compiled in a weekly email digest. To ensure timely delivery of your announcement, please submit it by Tuesday of each week.
