First Photovoice Exhibit A Success! : Through Our Own Eyes: The Alliance and NYC Teens Envision a City Without Sexual Violence

On the evening of April 29th close to 100 people attended the first Through Our Own Eyes: Using Photovoice to Envision a City Without Sexual and Dating Violence photography exhibit by New York City youth who participated in the Alliance�s comprehensive anti-sexual violence training program. Made possible in part by a generous grant from the New York City Council, and hosted at the 6th Street Community Center, the group show was free to the public and featured powerful images and essays on teen violence, and the converse, healthy relationships in "a city free of sexual violence." Females ages 13 and over including:

transgender adults and teens
girls and boys, ages 6-13.
female significant others.
female undocumented immigrants.

Fees for services:

Most services based on a sliding scale* according to income. Free services are available to female & transgender survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence and childhood abuse (sexual and other). Teens (14-19) classes are free of charge.

T'Ai Chi Chuan training*.
Karate / Self-Defense training for teenage women & transgender youth, ages 13-18*.

Community education regarding self-defense violence prevention (workshops & courses) - sliding scale fee*.
Professional trainings regarding self-defenses / violence prevention for staff & clients (workshops & courses) - sliding scale fee*.
